Book Monkey get up, pet Lady,
Book Monkey go to job,
Book Monkey have [not quite so] boring meeting,
With Boring Manager Rob.
He apologized. He may not have meant it, but he actually said the words "I apologize," to us after admitting that his handling of the door situation was not so great.*
And my fellow lab denizens' spines grew three sizes that day, and I barely even had to say anything, but it seems we got Robert to agree to make it a "Staff Only" door. Of course, I won't believe it until he actually puts the signs up (I even offered to make them to expedite this, but he wants to make them for some reason).
But still, I think I sorta won.
I mean, I had pretty much figured that actually changing the policy was not gonna happen, and I was mostly fighting the battle for the sake of fighting the battle to show him that while everyone else might roll over, I will not.**
But even getting the apology was pretty huge, I think.
And my point? She has been made.
Now, will he remember next time? I'm not getting my hopes up...
*Aaaaaand once again he trumps mom in the being a decent human being category.
**Yet another way in which this whole thing has been dredging up mom issues because I think my breaking point was essentially, "I might have had to put up with my mom's bullshit, but I don't have to put up with yours, and I won't."
