i know there are other topics discussed, but still. it doesn't seem like there's much you could do. anyway, i got an email that looks like this:
"Based on your outstanding performance in CSC 171, I am writing you to invite you to apply to be a tutor through the Office of Minority Student Affairs. If you are interested, please stop by 310 Morey Hall and complete an application.
I thank you in advance and want you to know that you will be providing an invaluable service to your peers. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me."
and why is it "through the Office of Minority Student Affairs"? a tutor specifically for minority students? wouldn't they be able to get tutors through regular channels? or is it that people who need tutors are the minority?
ah well, i was thoroughly entertained by the phrase "invite you to apply". and the question then becomes, do people apply without invitations?
