The General Collections Conservator is applying for the open Rare Books Conservator position. They sent out an iternerary for his interview thing, and apparently he has to get the exact same treatment as the other candidates (who will be interviewing later this month), so the itinerary includes a tour of the Preservation Lab. Where he already works. So he can be introduced to the workers. Who he already knows. And later we'll be doing some sort of coffee hour thing... also to get to know him. While this would make sense for the other candidates, since they've presumably never been here and don't know us, I find it to be hysterically funny that someone who has worked here for like, ten years, is going to get a tour of the place where he works.
What sucks about this is that the day for his interviewing shenanigans is the same day I've been planning on taking a Vacation Day. My vast and expansive plans for this Vacation Day are getting bloodwork done in the morning and then going to Barnes & Noble to get the zombie apocalypse books (and probably other things since I've got $70 worth of gift certificatage).
I'm seriously considering rescheduling my bloodwork for the next day. If I decide to do it, it will be pretty easy because the scheduling is all online, and I checked, and there is an appointment at the same time the next day.
So, yeah. Should I reschedule my bloodwork and Vacation Day to be thoroughly amused by my immediate supervisor getting a tour of the place where he already works ("This over here is your desk, where you work.")? Or is the notion funnier than the reality is going to be?
