it may only be a temporary death like when cas and chuck blew up at the end of last season but then were ok again

also i think they tryed to kill lucifer with that thing and it did not work

Chuck was the one being protected by the Archangel, so he was never in danger, and Joshua said that God brought Cas back (and he wasn't stabbied anyway).
They tried to kill Lucifer with the Colt and it didn't work (which makes sense since it kills demons and he's not a demon), but I don't think they've tried anything else.
The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't work on Archangels except they haven't said that so at the very least somebody should have suggested it if only to have Cas shoot it down.

did they have that knife last time they saw lucifer and maybe they did not know if it would work or not till dean tryed it on zack and now they can use it on all the dick angels

It's different from the demon killing knife. Cas has used to it kill angels before. Namely Uriel and then again when they were in the storage unit and Zach was torturing them.
Metallicar is an old school Earth Goddess in disguise. All they need to do is wake her up, and she will end the madness.
