Occasionally I'll get a really good frankenstitch, and twice I've gotten straight pins being used to hold gatherings in (IDEK). Also, leather bloom is creepy and gross. I mean, I know it's not actually mold, but it hits that part of my brain.

Date: 2013-04-24 03:06 am (UTC)I've been taking apart staple overloads lately, but first you have to remove the old school book tape that leaves this gross yellow dust behind.
I've never encountered leather bloom. Red rot on the other hand.. I have handled many a red-rotted leather book till my hands turned black and then I blew my nose afterwards and it had red/brown dust in the mucous. I try not to think about the things I have inhaled while working with books.
