fuzzybluemonkeys: Your silliness is noted. (archie!)
I entertained myself during my commute today by listening to the Power Rangers: The Movie soundtrack that I got via SwapTree because I am a dork.

Overall, I have to say I found it somewhat bizarre. It starts out with the theme song as you might expect, but it's all jazzed up, "Oooh! We're a movie now!" and there's a verse I don't remember about them only using their weapons for defense, which amused me and reminded me of those hysterical PSAs they'd have after the show, which amused me even more.
Then there's the Red Hot Chili Peppers' cover of "Higher Ground", which I like, but seemed sort of out of place? I realize the Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves probably had nothing to do with it, and it was all the record company, but that was sort of weird.
Less weird was the one song I remembered from the movie with the "Uh oh, we're in trouble, someone's (except it's actually something's) come along and burst our bubble.." I have a very distinct memory of that playing while the kids are running amok due to Ivan's purple ooze (PSA: Don't do drugs).
And then there was that "I've got the power!" song, that I've apparently never heard in it's entirety because wow, is it long.
Also long: the bizzaro dance mix cover of "Free Ride", and the most accurate description I can come up with for what they did to this song is that they Motown-ized it, and it is strange.
Somewhere in there was a rap re-mix of "Kung Fu Fighting" called "Kung Fu Dancing", a Van Halen song, and a They Might Be Giants song amongst others.
But the crowning glory, the pièce de résistance, the gem that makes it all worthwhile, has got to be the "Ayiyiyiyi Alpha Song" that was obviously written by people who watched Power Rangers and is hysterically awesome.

*sniff*

My song for last night's episode of Flashpoint:

Chin Up by Copeland

With your eyes closed,
Watching a strange show
Play out in your head,
But you were smiling somehow
And your day froze,
And everyone in it
Sat still as a rose,
But we were moving somehow.

Back to where we started,
Losing who we were,
Maybe we should only
Tip a bottle back to keep us filled up.

Back to where we started,
Losing who we were,
Everybody knows that,
You’d break your neck to keep your chin up.

Open your eyes,
And the drops come,
And a snail raced down to your neck,
And looked up,
But you were smiling somehow.

Back to where we started,
Losing who we were,
Maybe we should only
Tip a bottle back to keep us filled up.

Back to where we started,
Losing who we were,
Everybody knows that
You’d break your neck to keep your chin up.

And since you put the idea in my head I had to assign colors: Pink Ranger is Pink Ranger obv., new girl is Yellow Ranger, Spike is Billy so Blue Ranger, Greg is Zordon, Ed is the Red Ranger, which leaves Black for Wordy because Sam is the Green Ranger. And then Wynnie is Alpha.

Woke this morning dull and dusty,
But I will still lead you home,
Though my soul is old and rusty,
I will still lead you home.

You could brake my heart tomorrow,
And I would still lead you home,
Through all happiness and sorrow,
I will still lead you home.

Though our lives have been in danger,
As we saved those lonely strangers,
We will always know each other,
And I will always lead you home.

When the day gets dark and dreary,
I will still lead you home,
When the night has left you weary,
I will still lead you home.

As the shadows are encroaching,
And the end of life's approaching,
We will still be together,
And I will still lead you home.

We will always be together,
And I will always lead you home.

The mp3. Yes, that's Bootsie running amok towards the end (a confluence of decent vocals and no cat noise has not been forthcoming).

but this is what happens when I listen to Come What May over and over again while contemplating this prompt (I was also making book labels at work, but that's neither here nor there).

Ryan:
Never knew it could be like this
'Cause I've never kissed a guy before
Want to ignore but can't dismiss
Once just bros, but now we're something more
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing
Telling me that this is more than a fling
Work may get in the way of things
But we're partners until the end of time

Let them scoff, let them scoff
I'll be with you until the wheels fall off

Esposito:
We have always been up in each other's space
We have always moved in such concerted grace

Both:
You were always there right in front of my face

Esposito:
I'm so glad I found you

Both:
And there's no crime spree too vile, no corpse that's too fried
Call my last name, and I'll be there by your side
Castle may blather and Kate may smile wide
But I love you until the wheels fall off

Let them scoff, let them scoff
I will love you until the wheels fall off
Oh let them scoff, let them scoff
I will love you

Esposito:
With you I want to work on every case...

Both:
Let them scoff, let them scoff
I'll be with you until the wheels fall off

I quoted this elsewhere, so I figured I'd put it here, too:

"Each person who ever was or is or will be has a song. It isn't a song that anybody else wrote. It has its own melody, it has its own words. Very few people get to sing their own song. Most of us fear that we cannot do it justice with our voices, or that our words are too foolish or too honest, or too odd. So people live their songs instead."

"To Be Alone With You" by Sufjan Stevens: from G's perspective about Sam. Technically the song is about Jesus, but I liked it better when I thought it was about a gay guy. Alternatively, Jesus was a homosexual. That works too, actually.

I'd swim across Lake Michigan,
I'd sell my shoes
I'd give my body to be back again
In the rest of the room
To be alone with you
To be alone with you
To be alone with you
To be alone with you

You gave your body to the lonely
They took your clothes
You gave up a wife and a family
You gave your ghost
To be alone with me
To be alone with me
To be alone with me
You went up on a tree

To be alone with me
You went up on a tree

I've never known a man who loved me

Also, "Spies" by Coldplay because it makes me think of Sam rising up out of the pond on the golf course in that ep.

For the record, I fully intend to cling to my "Sam got Don't Ask, Don't Tell-ed out of the Navy" theory for as long as possible.

Because why the hell not?

This one cuts off sorta weird (it's a black screen for the tail end of the song which doesn't count as video, I guess):

And this one has very quiet audio, but if you turn it up too loud it gets distorted (and I think it works better mood-wise on the quiet-side):

Because it's a good description of how I've been feeling this week:

I'm waiting for
A miracle to save me,
I'm waiting for
A brand new day,
I'm waiting for
That Knight in Shining Armour,
But part of me hopes he'll stay away.

I'm waiting for
The turning of the switch,
I'm waiting for
The day I step out of the proverbial ditch,
I'm waiting for
The magical cure,
In the hope that things will be better than they were before.

I'm waiting for
A miracle to save me,
I'm waiting for
A brand new day,
I'm waiting for
That Knight in Shining Armour,
But part of me hopes he'll stay away.

So sometimes that lullabye about how Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird starts running through my head. The trouble is that I only know the opening lyrics:

Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird,
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring...

And that is the point where I forget what comes next and start making shit up:

And if that diamond ring should crack,
Mama's gonna buy you a Cadillac,
And if that Cadillac won't start,
Mama's gonna buy you a beating heart,
And if that beating heart should stop,
Mama's gonna buy you a traffic cop,
And if that traffic cop should die,
Mama's gonna buy you an apple pie,
And if that apple pie should rot,
Mama's gonna buy you a cooking pot,
And if that cooking pot should burn,
Mama's gonna buy you a flowered urn,
And if that flowered urn should break,
Mama's gonna buy you a wooden stake,
And if that wooden stake should split,
Mama's gonna buy you a first aid kit,
And if that first aid kit won't heal,
Mama's gonna buy you a spinning wheel,
And if that spinning wheel should prick,
Mama's gonna buy you a fried drumstick,
And if that drumstick clogs your veins,
Mama's gonna buy you a flying plane,
And if that flying plane should crash,
Mama's gonna buy you some V8 Splash,
And if that V8 Splash should spill,
Mama's gonna buy you a daffodil,
And if that daffodil should wilt,
Mama's gonna buy you a highland kilt,
And if that highland kilt should tear,
Mama's gonna buy you a grizzly bear,
And if that grizzly bear won't growl,
Mama's gonna buy you a hooting owl,
And if that hooting owl won't hoot,
Mama's gonna buy you some drugs to shoot,
And if those drugs don't make you high,
Mama's gonna buy you tsetse fly,
And if that tsetse fly should bite...

This is why it's really for the best that what little maternal instincts I have are directed at cats.

So, now I will go through an de-religionify it because one of the things I like about it is how easy it is to pretend it's not religious. It's about feeding the homeless, dammit.

Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the Feast of Stephen

Yes, this line is technically referring to Saint Stephen, but it could just as easily be referring to some random dude named Stephen. The Feast of Stephen as opposed to the Feast of Bob.

When the snow lay 'round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a poor man came in sight
Gath'ring winter fuel.

Hither, page, and stand by me,
If thou know'st it, telling
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sire, he lives a good league hence,
Underneath the mountain
Right against the forest fence
By Saint Agnes' fountain."

"Bring me flesh and bring me wine
Bring me pine-logs hither
Thou and I shall see him dine
When we bear them thither."
Page and monarch, forth they went
Forth they went together
Through the rude wind's wild lament
And the bitter weather.

"Sire, the night is darker now
And the wind blows stronger
Fails my heart, I know not how
I can go no longer."
"Mark my footsteps, good my page
Tread thou in them boldly
Thou shall find the winter's rage
Freeze thy blood less coldly."

No problems here, all wintry and secular.

In his master's step he trod
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the Saint had printed
Therefore, Christian Honest men be sure
Wealth or rank possessing
Ye, who now will bless the poor
Shall yourselves find blessing.

Both saint and blessing have secular meanings. A saint is just a really good person, or Simon Templar as the case may be. And the song itself uses "bless" as term of generosity and kindness when it refers to blessing the poor (by feeding them as opposed to making them your child's godparent). So the only real sticking point is the "Therefore, Christian men be sure," but once you change "christian" to "honest" (or some other two syllable adjective of your choice, we have acheived a song that even godless heathens such as myself will not object to the lyrics of.

And even if you leave the religious stuff in, it's still about feeding the homeless.

Even though it's a dark outside.

I sing to the light that I see out the door, and it's dark, dark inside.
I sing for the challenges this path has in store, and it's dark, dark inside.
Oh, the darkness takes courage; the darkness takes time.
Living in the darkness brings a different state of mind.
The darkness knows healing; the darkness knows change,
Oh, Mother darkness, I return to you again.

And according to my googlings, the song is by a UU Minister, Mary Grigolia, and there are two more verses. I like the third:

I sing to the curtain surrounding my fear, and it's dark, dark inside.
I'm breathing the grief I've been holding for years, and it's dark, dark inside.
Oh the darkness takes courage; the darkness takes time.
Living in the darkness brings a different state of mind.
The darkness knows healing; the darkness knows change.
Oh, Mother darkness, I return to you again.

The diamond may be my birth stone, but I'm still not inclined to give a royal drenn about them (other than the laser aspect because: lasers!)(not to mention the depressing "people died for those" aspect). Zombies, on the other (potentially evil) hand, are awesome.
So, yeah, I wasn't overly familiar with the song when my sister gives me the phrase "Zombies Are A Girl's Best Friend" courtesy of Skip cutting out something from a magazine or something. And the only line (melodically) that I really knew was that one, so I immediately started singing it that way. Then I had to learn the rest of the song. And fix the rest of the lyrics. But I am finally finished.

Zombies!

Crass Materialism!

There are many kinds of dead.
Some delight in drinking blood.
But I prefer a man who trips
And drips all sorts of crud.

A bite on the neck
May be quite interdental,
But zombies are a girl's best friend.

A chainsaw for a hand
Can be quite instrumental
When a missing head
Will save you from the Evil Dead.

Corpses grow cold
As they grow old,
And we all decompose in the end.

But shuffling and stumbling,
The best ones are crumbling.
Zombies are a girl's best friend.

Raimi's!
Braaaains!
Ving Rhames!
Bruce Campbell!
Talk to me George Romero.
Tell me all about it!

There may come a time
When a full moon is shining,
But zombies are a girl's best friend.

There may come a time
When you find yourself pining
For a werewolf pet,
But you'll be likely to regret.

He's got pull
When moons are full,
But all phases must come to an end.

And hey, if you're rotting
There's no time for plotting.
Zombies are a girl's best friend.

I've heard of affairs
That are strictly demonic,
But zombies are a girl's best friend.

There may be a cure
In a potion or tonic
Or light of sun
But if it's fleeting where's the fun?

Time rolls on,
And life is gone,
And rigor mortis won't let you bend.

But stiff back
Or stiff knees,
So long as he's dead, please.

Zombies! Zombies!
I don't mean diamonds!
But zombies are a girl's best friend.
The French are glad to die for love.
They delight in fighting duels.
But I prefer a man who lives
And gives expensive jewels.

A kiss on the hand
May be quite continental,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

A kiss may be grand
But it won't pay the rental
On your humble flat
Or help you at the automat.

Men grow cold
As girls grow old,
And we all lose our charms in the end.

But square-cut or pear-shaped,
These rocks don't loose their shape.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Tiffany's!
Cartier!
Black Starr!
Frost Gorham!
Talk to me Harry Winston.
Tell me all about it!

There may come a time
When a lass needs a lawyer,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

There may come a time
When a hard-boiled employer
Thinks you're awful nice,
But get that ice or else no dice.

He's your guy
When stocks are high,
But beware when they start to descend.

It's then that those louses
Go back to their spouses.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

I've heard of affairs
That are strictly platonic,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

And I think affairs
That you must keep liaisonic
Are better bets
If little pets get big baguettes.

Time rolls on,
And youth is gone,
And you can't straighten up when you bend.

But stiff back
Or stiff knees,
You stand straight at Tiffany's.

Diamonds! Diamonds!
I don't mean rhinestones!
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

First up, Full Disclosure: I'm gonna suck it up and admit I'm white-- despite my nitpicker's inclination to be all "Technically, I'm tan."
I'm white.
And I have white privilege.
And other people of varying skin tones have talked about what I'm going to talk about and probably done a better job, but I'm fairly confident in saying that none of them have used (or will use) a Rankin/Bass Christmas Special to illustrate their point. So, I've got that going for me.

Is International Blog Against Racism Week going to change the world and make Racism disappear?
That'd be a 'no', I'm sorry to say.
So why bother?
Well, a) ya gotta start somewhere, b) it's not going to do any harm, and c) Do posts about Fandom/School/Work/Life/IngrownToenails change the world? Heck no! Does that stop anyone from making them? Again with the 'Heck no!'

So, maybe it's just one week out of 52, and a lot of us will be going back to our blissful ignorance and white privilege... but some of us won't. And though that may not be much, it's something. It's a first step, if you will.
And that is my brilliant segue into what anyone can do if they're feeling like it's not worth it, no one is reading this, why bother, it's just a week, it's just a blog, etc.
When I feel like crap, I sing- when I feel happy, I sing (you may be noticing a trend here), and recently, I hit a point where I would just find myself emotionally, mentally paralyzed, and in order to jump-start my brain, I'd start to sing (because That's what I do! That's what I live for! To help unfortunate Merfolk, like yourself!). And what would I sing?
Why, this lovely little cheesetastic inspirational song from the Rankin/Bass production of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town:

Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

The idea being that even though, big picture-wise, we're all screwed, we can still keep going, one foot in front of the other, and do the next thing, and it can still matter.

But I'm taking the chorus out of context, here. What the song is really about is change. Changing yourself from bad to good (oh, those rascally Winter Warlocks!),

If you want to change your direction
If your time of life is at hand
Well don’t be the rule be the exception
A good way to start is to stand

Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

[Full lyrics - there's even an audio link on the left]

So, you see, it's doubly inspirational! The Chorus by itself is inspirational for the Bloggers of Color and their Allies in a "Please don't get fed up with those of us who are behind on the learning curve" sort of way, and the song in it's entirety is for the rest of us in a "You can do it! The first step is admitting you have a problem" sort of way.
So, while this post is getting to be as haphazard as the brain that created it (and a bit longish- Congratulations for not giving up on me after the first Disney reference! Have a cookie.), the general gist is meant to be a 'thank you', to the people who are posting and organizing and icon-making, and also sort of a 'Keep going! I believe in you!', and even though it may seem like the clueless white folks ain't listening, we are. Well, I am. And I'm learning. And I'm putting one foot in front of the other, which is puny, and who cares, but it's something.

In My Time of Dying- Best of You by the Foo Fighters: With Dean as both the person singing the song and the person being addressed by it, and John being the one getting the best of him.
My head is giving me life or death,
But I can't choose,
I swear I'll never give in,
I refuse.

Everybody Loves a Clown- Tears of a Clown by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles: Aside from the obvious clown reference, it's also very applicable to Dean and his "I'm fine." routine.
Now if there's a smile on my face,
It's only there trying to fool the public.
But when it comes down to fooling you,
Now honey that's quite a different subject.
But don't let my glad expression,
Give you the wrong impression,
Really I'm sad, oh I'm sadder than sad.
You're gone and I'm hurtin' so bad,
Like a clown I pretend to be glad.

Bloodlust- bloody by Me: Maybe I should save this one for when James Marsters guest stars, but the vampire references are vague/metaphorical enough as it is, so it could totally apply to Dean. Plus, you know, reformed vampires.
So please don't run away,
There is still time, for you, to save the day,
Please don't cry too long,
Maybe everything won't turn out wrong,
If you could see past the gray,
To find your own sunlight,
And have your own say,
Maybe then you'd know,
The darkness is lacking,
It's not the only way to go,
Don't worry if you feel untrue,
You don't need to breathe,
To do what you do,
Sometimes it might seem too tough,
But if it were easy,
You know that wouldn't be enough,
'Cause it's the challenge that makes you whole,
And gives you a reason,
To save your own soul.

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things- Zombie Prostitute by Voltaire: On the one hand, there's the DeanAngst!, on the other hand, yeah, there's her.

Simon Said- Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) by Pink Floyd: At first I was attracted to this song purely for the "We don't need your mind control" line, but then it occurred to me that the teacher in this instance is the yellow-eyed demon: "Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone!"

No Exit- Hey Jealousy by Gin Blossoms: I freely admit that at least part of my Jo hatred is due to insane and illogical jealousy, but there are other reasons I don't like her: she totally ignores Sam and/or signals for him to leave when he's around, which is rich coming from me with all my Dean songs, I know, but it's not that I don't want Sam around, I like Sam plenty (well, except for in Night Shifter when he's a ginormous dickwad to Ronald), I just have a hard time figuring out where his head is at, which is probably why I gravitate towards Dean (yes, there are reasons I prefer Dean other than Jensen being as pretty as all get out)-- even though I might disagree with his reasoning, at least I know what his reasoning is. Besides, Dean isn't Dean without his Sammy. But back to Jo: she also screams really stupidly and badly.

The Usual Suspects- Bad Boys by Inner Circle: This one speaks for itself, I think. I'm desperately in love with the montage o' deceit at the beginning.

Crossroad Blues- Something to Sing About from the Buffy musical: Dean's angst about being brought back from the dead (again!) so makes me think of Buffy's season 6 issues.
All the joy- life sends.
Family and friends
All the twists and bends,
Knowing that it ends.
Well that
Depends
On if they let you go,
On if they know enough to know,
that when you've bowed,
You leave the crowd.

And then the demon saying Daddy is in hell makes this run through my head:
There was no pain,
No fear, No doubt,
Til they pulled me out- of heeeeeeaven.
So that’s my refrain,
I live in hell,
'Cause I was expelled- from heeeeeeaven.
I think I was in heeeeeeaven

Croatoan- Samson by Regina Spektor: Dean's having a crisis of faith. I don't know that he wants to quit forever (though he'd definitely quit life forever if he lost his brother), but just the idea of wanting a vacation (and somehow the Go-Go's Vacation just didn't quite fit the tone). Dean wants Sammy to just be his brother and not have demonically-connected powers and definitely not a destiny, so if he could cut his hair and make that all go away (and the 'Jared needs a haircut' aspect is not lost on me either), he totally would.
Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down,
Yeah, we couldn't destroy a single one
And history books forgot about us,
And the bible didn't mention us, not even once

Dean's okay with hunting because it's the right thing to do, but he's not so keen on that destiny crap, and this song just captures that perfectly for me.

Hunted- Head For The Hills by Saves The Day: Sammy and the wonderkids don't wanna follow the demon, but "If you ever knew what I'm dreaming of, you would head for the hills."
Drowning in the darkness of my mind,
I dream I'm setting fire to everything in sight,
If I die tonight and go to Hell, oh well,
On that hill I see you.

My heart is burning black,
My bones are cold and cracked,
The venom flushed out my veins.
And if you ever knew what I'm dreaming of,
You would head for the hills.
You'd better head for the hills.
You'd better head for the hills.

Playthings- Promises, Promises by Naked Eyes: Dean made Sam promises, promises- he knew he'd never keep.

Night Shifter- Sherry by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons: I'm still wondering how the cops would explain away this unidentified body that looks exactly like a live woman. And at what point would someone with half a brain notice the astounding coincidence of the other time Dean kills people he somehow fakes his own death with an identical body. I realize it's sadly realistic for the FBI to be sorta dumb, but grow a clue, people.

Houses of the Holy- I Ain't Afraid by Holly Near: It's... not the best song ever, but I like the sentiment, and it's been growing on me. And I did like the preisty dude actually remembering the whole "Thou shalt not kill" thing. The trouble is that Sam is looking for an easy way out, so that it won't be his fault if he goes all dark side, but that's the most dangerous mindset he can have right now. It's easier to go evil if you think it's unavoidable, if you blame it on destiny, or some higher power manipulating/not protecting you, but if he accepts that it's his choice, his decision, he gives himself the power to keep himself from succumbing.

Born Under A Bad Sign- You Are A Runner And I Am My Father's Son by Wolf Parade: In the context of the episode, Jo is the Runner. But I think it also works with Dean as the Runner. Dean would rather run away than face the demon if killing the demon means losing his family. Whereas John and Sam have that single-minded martyr for the cause/revenge thing going on. So yeah, Meg via Sam was so lying about Dean being more like their father.
I'll draw three figures on your heart:
One of them will be me as a boy,
One of them will be me,
One of them will be me watching you run.

Tall Tales- Die Motherfucker Die by Get Set Go: I think the cheerful nature of the music goes along with the Trickster's enjoyment of messing with people. Like, it's not personal malice, just a cheery, "Die, motherfucker, die."

Roadkill- Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III: Look, I loved this episode, and thought it was all deep and existential and such, but despite this, the title takes me to the "Dead Skunk" place.

Heart- The Time Comes by Nina Gordon: So, "the time comes" for Sammy to have some sex, and "Then it goes, and it goes, away." Also, the scene where the three of them are framed in the window, watching the sun rise: "I wait for the day to break me."

Hollywood Babylon- I Got Rythym by Ella Fitzgerald: It's like my SciFi Saturday came two nights early and combined with my favorite TV show. Or as my sister so deliciously put it, it's like if Dean and Bruce could breed.
Who could ask for anything more?

Folsom Prison Blues- Jailhouse Rock by Elvis:
The Warden threw a party in the county jail.

What Is And What Should Never Be- Always by Anthony Rapp: This is normally my Dean and Mary song, so it works in that respect, but also in this context as Dean and Sammy. Because any reality where he doesn't call Sammy, 'Sammy' is fundamentally flawed.
I'm up here on my own again, I'm always on my own
They don't know anything at all, they see just what they want
Can't they see I'm not really here? I'm back there with you.

Flying away, wish I could say you would be there tomorrow and always
Just have to go, wish I could know you would always remember me now and always

Turning my face away again, I'm always turned away
Wanting someone to talk it out, without you always

Flying away, wish I could say you would be there tomorrow and always
Just have to go, wish I could know you would always remember me now and always

All Hell Breaks Loose Part 1- A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley: I found this episode to be lacking in "oomph". Especially given the title.. I was told there'd be hell breaking loose, dammit! Where's my hell?

All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2- In Time by Mark Collie: Because in the midst of my "Wow, Thomas Jane looks weirdly like Colin Ferguson-[The Punisher kills a bunch of people]- Okay, so, Colin Ferguson, but like, a bazillion times more hardcore," madness, I really liked that song. And it fits with Dean and Sammy dying all over the place and Dean's deal.
And in time all things shall pass away
In time you may come back someday.
To live once more
To die once more
But in time your time will be no more

You know your days are numbered
Count 'em one by one
Like notches in the handle of an outlaw's gun
You can outrun the devil if you try
But you will never outrun the hands of time

Plus the Punisher winds up killing the Harry Heck assassin guy who sings the song, so his song doesn't quite come to pass, and that fits with the fact that Sammy's totally gonna save Dean. 'Cause they've got work to do.

Aaaand the ginormous zipfile! Haven't you always wanted one?

So, I was going to get an mp3 of Too Much To Dream by playing the version we audio-taped off the TV on my boombox and holding the computer microphone up to the speakers.

However, it turns out you can't build Castles on Quicksand, you can't build bridges on thin air, and you can't get good audio quality under those circumstances (especially when Ringo has to waddle up at the last possible moment to meow, loudly).

So, then I found this website where it turns out some dude had already done my work for me, and uploaded lots of songs from the show which I then proceeded to listen to and wound up breaking the poor soul's website.

Twice.

Ow! My Bandwidth!
And that is why Everybody's Got Someone but me (<--and the dude totally doesn't have this one- what's up with that?).

And then, I was trying to find the website again so I could put the links into this post, and *hee hee hee* well, *snorfle* there's a myspace page!

...

*falls down laughing*
It's not official, but still. And it has "Everybody's Got Someone"!

Love Is Not Like This on the radio, folks- only on the internet.
